A Waste of Money

I was so upset, a absolute waste of money. Extremely uncreative lessons a kindergardener could come up with. The slides are O.K. but not worth $60. And there are very few (maybe 5) handouts. Awful!!! It is also an unreturnable item (which I was unaware of before I purchased it). Hume's book of lists I found extremely helpful but what was she thinking with this one.

I loved this book. I was asked to teach art from an academic perspective (as opposed to craftsy) while living in Eritrea (east Africa). This book was so great from an historical point of view. I had a very culturally mixed group of students and they and I both enjoyed and benefited from this book. I had to leave the book there as part of classroom supplies but plan to purchase another copy.

I loved this book I used it for years in my special eduction secondary ft class. We made wonderful use of the stories and project especially Egyptian and Greek periods the g-ds. I don't understand the negative reviews. I have been teaching for 45 years
I still love this and the art. Smart primary book. History and art appreciation go together

Writers without a Clue

Just like all Jones & Bartlett books, this one is awful too. Unfortunately my college uses this brand. It's apparent the authors have no idea what they are talking about. Do yourself a favor and find a real book that was written by someone who has experience in the IT world. This people are just writers that haven't got a clue and it shows.

It is just too basic, and the title is misleading. The book covered very basic concepts every network admin should know, security is treated in the most introductory form.
This is actually the first time I give such low rating. This could be used by high school students try to learn new concepts, but is not fit for more than that without extra work. I tried the labs, I was losing my time - but it was required in class. Is not well organized and the reading is not pleasant - could use less pages I guess.

A great up to date introduction!

This is a really great introduction to Pennsylvania Dutch (Sometimes called Pennsylvania German) which is quite accessible in guiding the beginner to a good solid foundation in grammar and pronunciation with conversational practice that really reinforces what you learn.

You'd like some sound practice? Have no fear! Douglas Madenford has a video series on youtube titled PA Dutch 101 in which he gives a good foundation in some instruction that can truly add to what you're having to learn in the book.

The orthography which he uses to teach PA Deitsch is quite uniformed as compared to some other tutorials and dictionaries which have left me wondering what was in the book given that I had not grown up with PA Dutch and English is not my first language.

This book is a great up to date presentation which is sorely needed and I am hoping for more books and online videos to help in the presentation of this unique and wonderful language.

I was born and raised in Reading, now reside permanently in northern Germany. I find this book amusing and informative. I recall many words and phrases from my childhood days, I am making a serious effort to speak the language. Hope to visit Reading and Kutztown again soon.

As a German, I like this book. For learning, it is easy to understand for Americans, too. Pennsylvania Dutch or Pennsylvania German seems very similar to today's Swabian-Alemanic dialect. Generally, I love the Germanity abroad.

A really good read

This book was a page turner from beginning to end and except for some minor editing issues was perfectly written. The profound pain that these girls experienced left me sometimes on the verge of tears. Then Julia swept you into the next phase a wonderful tale that exhibited how the bonds of love and sisterhood know no bounds, can't wait for the fourth volume. Whatever you do Julia Press Simmons don't ever stop writing!!!!!!!

This was my first time reading Julia Press Simmons work, and it will not be my last. This series was great, it was full of twist and turns that left you sitting on the egde of your seat. If you are looking for a great series this is it.
