Yuantao Guo received a PhD from Judge Business School, Cambridge University, UK. She received her MPhil in Development Studies from the Land Economy Faculty at Cambridge, an MA in Economics from Peking University, Beijing, China, and a BA in Economics from Nankai University, Tianjin, China. She has also worked as an Equity Analyst for Goldman Sachs (based in Singapore) and J & A Securities Ltd (based in China). Her research interests include business economics, development studies, industrial policy, globalisation, and the beverage and consumer industries.

Kevin Wilson is the author of the collection, Tunneling to the Center of the Earth (Ecco/HarperPerennial, 2009), which received an Alex Award from the American Library Association and the Shirley Jackson Award. His fiction has appeared in four volumes of the New Stories from the South: The Year's Best anthology, and he has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, and the KHN Center for the Arts. Good book for the non technical

Good book for the non technical. I appreciated the whats new section overview of new features. I found the book to be easy to read, in plain english and has plenty of screen prints, photos and illustrations to show how to get around and do things with windows 10.

About the Author
Gary Conner has over 25 years of manufacturing experience with 15 years dedicated to implementing lean manufacturing in companies of all sizes, from mom-and-pop shops with 10 workers to multinational corporations with 15,000 or more employees.

In his consultancy, Lean Enterprise Training (Newport, Ore.), he has worked in 14 different industries, contracted with over 120 different companies, and facilitated over 400 kaizen projects, training tens of thousands of people in skills such as value stream mapping, setup reduction, 5S, team building, six sigma, and facilities layout planning.

An accomplished ISO 9000 certified lead auditor, Gary is also a college instructor and has authored four textbooks related to world-class manufacturing. In 2002, Gary's first edition of this book, Lean Manufacturing for the Small Shop, received the distinguished Shingo Prize Award. He was also awarded Manufacturer of the Year in 2004 by Chapter 63 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Great read- but not quite a one-size-fits-all

Overall, very good read. The author talks about the benefits of leaning-out a shop, but the risks of trying to take it too far in a smaller shop. He also does a fantastic job discussing the human element of running a production shop.

My complaints are that it is somewhat machine-shop oriented, the software is no longer hosted on his website, and in our (primarily one-off) environment, I'm wondering how useful a Lean strategy is, but there wasn't really a diagnostic for that.

I do highly recommend the book. Even if your shop cannot become lean, it has management advice, insight into reducing waste where possible, and a generic-enough scope that at least half of it will be helpful. The target is 100-10,000 product numbers, if I read right, with recurring processes. We just don't have the recurrence to make it quite as useful as it could be. Any shop with consistent work flow would see more value in this book than the 4 stars I gave it.

Even true believers are quick to conclude that the only reason for the sacrifice of Christ was to ease their consciences about the sins they commit and give them some prospect of being in God's presence some day after they depart this life.

This heart searching treatment of the truth that Christ is the new life of the believer is a neglected teaching in the church today, even though the Bible confirms it.
